The Resilient Livelihood Skills Training Program
The Resilient Livelihood Program is aimed at building the capacity of already skilled workers to become social entrepreneurs who can then employ others in work that is sustainable, economically accessibly and thus resilient. They join the Centre as hired staff, and learn the basics of waste-upcyclin and social enterprise, through three areas of capacity-building:
HARD SKILLS TRAINING
Training in work with metal, wood, plastics, glass and natural materials.
Up-cycled product design, fabrication, scale-production.
SOFT SKILLS TRAINING
Including marketing, communications and team management.
WORK PLACEMENT & MENTORSHIP STREAM
Learners form teams of specialised areas, such as product design, communications, marketing and fabrication. These teams of learners then step into the market and carry out projects with external clients, guided and mentored by the Centre.
SCALING THE IMPACT
Once learners have demonstrated readiness to launch as social entrepreneurs, they choose between creating their own team in their native region, or returning to the Centre as teachers or mentors themselves.
